1. Why should I choose A Pet Nanny Plus?

A Pet Nanny Plus is fully bonded, insured and first aid trained. We have over 25 years of experience dealing with all types, sizes and breeds of pets available and are recommended by veterinarians and home insurance companies. We are trained to administer all types of medications including, diabetic injections, pills, ear creams and sub-cutaneous. Walking assists in keeping dogs socialized and walked helps to promote a long life and a well behaved and stress-free pet.

2. What services do you offer?

We offer services for all sorts of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles and small animals. Our services include walking, visits, transportation, home-based boarding and medication administrations.

3. Where are your boarding services provided? Can I drop my pet off?

We offer boarding out of the homes of our sitters located in the Oshawa area. Prior to service we would need to arrange for a free, no-obligation initial consultation for you and your pet to go to the home your pet would be staying so you can meet the sitter herself and fill out paperwork on how we can properly care for your pet in your absence.We also require a 3-day non-refundable deposit to confirm your booking.

4. What areas do you service?

We provide services in the Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Brooklin, Oshawa, Courtice, Bowmanville and Newcastle area at this time. We hope to expand our services further in the future.

5. How do I make payments? Do you accept credit cards?

Credit card payments can only be made through PayPal. We do also accept cash, cheque and money orders. Payments are to be made in full at the commencement of services. Invoices can be requested and will be issued either prior to services commencement or after payment is received. Please visit our Bill Payments page for more information.

6. Why do you need 2 keys? How are my keys protected while in your care?

We ask that 2 copies of your house key is provided during initial consultations and confirmed to be in working order prior to the commencement of services. One copy of the key will be in the office and used only in the case of emergencies.

We take the utmost care to protect the identities of our clients and their keys in our possession at all times. No personal information is written or attached to the keys at any time and a colour and key code is used to distinguish the keys. Only the office has access to the codes at any given time.

There is a pick up and drop off fee of $10 +hst each after the initial pick up (at consultation) and drop off.

7. What is your cancellation and booking policy? What if we are delayed coming home?

We require 24 hours to cancel or arrange for any of our services. There is a fee equal to the amount of services if 24 hour notice is not provided for cancellations. Any services arranged without 24 hours notice are subject to an additional fee of $3.50 per service provided.  If there is a delay in your arrival home, please contact the office as soon as possible to arrange for extra services for your pets.

Boarding requires a 3-day non-refundable deposit to confirm your booking.

8. What if my pet gets sick in while in your care?

During the initial consultation process, we require an emergency contact who is familiar with you home and pets that we can contact and discuss options for your pets. If veterinary care is required, we will always attempt to use your regular veterinary clinic. If the emergency is after hours, the Animal Emergency Clinic of Durham Region will be used. All medical bills and transportation fees will be paid in full promptly upon your return. Credit card information should be left with your regular veterinarian in the case of emergency care.

9. What if I run out of pet supplies while you are caring for my pets?

We will purchase pet supplies as required during our services. A transportation fee and the full amount of supplies will be due upon your return. We try our utmost to purchase same type of supplies currently in use. Some variance may occur due to availability of supplies or knowledge of supplies needed.

10. Do you charge extra for extra pets in the home?

There is a $2 +hst fee per extra dog in the home during our dog walking services, a $17.50 +hst per extra dog fee for dog boarding and daycare and a $8.50 +hst fee per cat for cat boarding.

There is no extra fee for amount of cats or small animals in home during cat or small animal visits. Cat visits are free with scheduled dog walks.

11. Can I meet the sitter who will be visiting my pets?

After the initial consultation, any scheduled meet n' greets  are $10 +hst each for 30 minutes. Every effort is made to arrange for meetings during the initial consultation process if requested prior to consultation.

12. What should I do or prepare prior to leaving or upon returning home?

Prior to our services commencing, all pet owners should ensure all pet care supplies are visible and in full supply for the entire period you will be away. A note should be left for the Nanny with emergency phone numbers for yourself, any important home based numbers (such as: furnace, plumber, landscaper and alarm companies), and any local emergency contacts. It is also advisable that neighbours, veterinarians and family members be informed of our visits and your absence. Credit card information should be left with your veterinarian in the case of emergencies.  All windows and doors should be secured and locked and refrigerators and dishes should be cleaned and emptied to avoid any smells or insect activity during your absence.

Upon your return you should ensure the care and safety of your pets and home. We ask that you please contact A Pet Nanny Plus to ensure your safe return and that no extra services will be provided. *This is especially important in the case of medication administration services as services will continue until we hear from you at extra charge.
